Dwayne McDuffie

Dwayne McDuffie died today.
The creator of Damage Control, Static Shock, writer/producer of Teen Titans, Justice League, and Ben 10. I’m sure I read his work in Iron Man and Avengers.
19 years ago he founded the comic book version of FUBU.
He was an Icon.
I had no idea how much he had influenced my over the last twenty years until I read his obituary, his wiki, his imdb.
Until today I never even knew who he was. All the credit on the fanboy blogs I read go to Bruce Timm and Andrea Romano.
John Stewart will always be one of my favorite characters. I assume I have Dwayne McDuffie to thank for him being the Green Lantern on the Justice League series.

I am saddened to hear that one of my favorite writers died-and especially at such a young age too. RIP to Dwayne McDuffie who was the black version of Jack Kirby in my eyes. You will be missed greatly, my friend.
